The garden is located on the border of both the historic Fruit Belt and Cold Spring neighborhoods at 206 Best Street. The project has truly been a team effort. Students, parents, nonprofit organizations, local companies and countless volunteers have contributed to make this garden grow! The name "Pelion Community Garden" was selected by the 5th and 6th graders at City Honors School. In Greek Mythology, Mount Pelion was the homeland of Chiron the Centaur, tutor of many ancient Greek heroes, and the beloved mascot of City Honors School. Our garden is busy with activity. We have created a full calendar of hands-on opportunities for students to learn about plants, nutrition, science, and sustainable living.
